Reed chasing a podium in Phoenix

Australian rider Chad Reed will look to put a horror start to the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross season behind him when he lines up at the start gate at Phoenix’s Chase Field on Saturday night.

Redemption will be the order of round two for the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider, who was forced to retire from proceedings at the season opener with a damaged wheel.

Incredibly, it was only the third time from 119 AMA starts that he has finished outside the top ten.

A two-time title winner in the premier class, Reed has ridden the highs and lows of the sport but has always maintained an optimistic approach.

“Last weekend was a big blow but it was one of those things that is no one’s fault,” said Reed. “We’re looking to bounce back with a good result this weekend and really get back on track.

“The team has been supportive and we’re working together well, I’m confident the bike has what it takes to run at the front and if I can avoid the chaos at the start I’ll be in a good position to attack.”

The 27-year-old finished in second place at Chase Field last year on the way to a hard-fought second outright in the 450cc class for the season.

Practice and qualifying sessions will be held during the afternoon before the 20-lap Main Event gets underway at night.
