Reed – Stewart rivalry reaches epic status

// January 18th, 2010 // BLOG

The rivalry between dual World Supercross champion Chad Reed and reigning champion James Stewart reached boiling point today, with the two clashing heavily during the second round of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series which was held at Chase Field in Phoenix.

Both Reed and his nemesis were back in the pack at the start of the 20 lap race and followed each other through the early laps. On lap five of race Reed put a pass on Stewart going into a right hand corner and the two collided, leaving Reed with a suspected broken bone in his hand.

Tempers flared following the race but Reed acknowledged his focus is now is on having his hand assessed ahead of next weekend’s third round of the series.

“We were racing hard and we were racing for a championship where every point counts, as we saw at the end of last season,” Reed explained.

“James went high and I saw an opportunity to pass and took it and we came together end of story. The main focus for me right now is to seek medical advice and understand what sort of injury my hand has sustained.

“That’s got to be the priority right now then once I know where I am at I will take a little time to reflect on what happened,” he added.

The third instalment of the 2010 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series will see the series head back to Anaheim’s Angel Stadium on Saturday 23rd January.

Rubbing is racing!! I sure hope Chad doesn't read this site talk about a negative bunch of winers.
Any rider that can go top 20 in the US or Europe deserves nothing but respect, not trash talk.

( Chad Reed, you need to have somebody clean your site daily of the negative crap )

  2. djkbo says:

Yes clean and bin couldnt have said it better myself !

chris pull your(and jeff emigs) head out from stewarts ass
    james caused both those crashes
he is unsafe and ghas no regard for others safety
reed now has a broken hand with james to thank i would have kicked his ass he would be afraid to look at me on or off the track
he is arguably the fastest guy on the planet he needs to grow up and consider how is disregard for others threatens life and the sports image

that $hit is hilarious hahahahaha. seriously though reed followed stewart around waiting for a place to take him out. and then raced back to the pits like a girl. if reed is not careful, stewart is going to cap his @ss

Jake is the same loser from the old CR site. My girl and I were laughing about what all these pathetic people did with there time while it was off line. Chad has the most appeal, the most people talking about him and the most haters…. also he has the biggest line of fans waiting to meet him. It just comes with the territory. He's also got the most girls waiting to meet him which I'm sure his wife ain't too happy about. Stewart's obviously got the black crowd and a couple of band wagon jumpers… trust me I know this for sure. I was cracking up after seeing his fan line in ATL last year I wasn't sure if it was to get an autograph, vote for Obama, apply for food stamps, or meet with parole officer.

  10. drm745 says:

wow that comment is even dirtier than reed's riding

What a moron. A poor show of sportsmanship would be the animal that walked into the pits committing a completely unprovoked attack on Monster Energy's 100k 2010 Kawi. Stewart is a real pompous degenerate who believes he is the "Tiger Woods of MX". His attitude and actions clearly show he is on par with Tiger who is also a lowlife of similar calibur. These neanderthals can only hide behind a faux image for so long before they show their true colors. I do not recall one of the greats (Ricky, McGrath, DeCoster, etc.) ever acting like such a fool. Jeff Emig was smoking pot out of a Beer can but at least he wasn't making an unauthorized pit entry in an attempt to attack a fellow rider. I only wish I was there…. Stewart would have been punching me in the face thats for sure. I would have cut him to pieces with insults.

Its being a FAN of a rider or a team….not obsession.

go reedy go get the championship

  14. CRlikesboys says:

Will you ever accept the fact that you are NOT the #1 rider in the world. That spot belongs to JS. **** even Dungey is better than you. You're just a cry baby who races dirty! How's the hand you little girl! Karma is a bitch!!

  15. screwbush says:

Do you come to this site just to be a Dick? Maybe you should look at the fact that reed has more career wins than Stewart.

  16. corbinsmom says:

Both Holly on the audio feed during the race and Emig on the telecast said it WAS NOT an attempt on Chad's part to take JS out. I have a tendency to think that two ex pro riders, who were there, have far more knowledge on assessing what transpired than those who find the need to point a finger at someone else when JS has made errors without any help from anyone else. Chad's comment on the situation was straight forward and once again shows his professionalism and dedication to the sport. True Chad Reed fans will continue to show their support during this difficult start to the season. Hang in there Chad and know that there are far more fans who are behind you than not, as well shown in both Anaheim & Phoenix. Heal fast & stay focused on what is important.

  17. SX fan says:

I think JS should have stayed high in the corner. He needs to realize not everyone can / will move over for him. In the heat race he tried to move 644 over. Problem was he couldn’t, he was in the air. In the corner with Chad, the move JS made (being high then cut down to the inside) would have been ok if he was more in front of Chad, but he wasn’t. Chad’s head push didn’t look good, but was probably out of frustration..
